Bmw M3 E36 Homepage

Question: Bmw m3 e36 questions? manual or automatic?

Hey im think about getting a Bmw m3 E36 and i have never driven a manual car in my life. Is it easy to get the hang of on this Bmw and does the e36 m3 have a cluch, because i heard some bmw's dont even have one.

Older ones do newer ones dont they dont make m3's in auto

Yeah im think about getting a BMW.. Lets clear this up. If it has a clutch petal its a manual. If it has none its just a fancy automatic.. Built for whimps/

Some of the E46 M3's have an SMG transmission, which is basically a "clutchless manual. " In my opinion, you either go full manual, or full auto - nothing inbetween. Learning stick shift is easy, and it's a lot more fun than driving stick shift. It also gets you much more involved in the car, and makes you feel more in control. Ask a friend with a stick shift to teach you. Trust me - if you're going to get a car like an M3, you'll hate yourself if you get an auto.

If it has the SMG then it doesn't have a clutch, and its known as a "manumatic " transmission. But yea I mean the M3 is quite an angry car and the engine revs are INSANE, so it's pretty hard to get the hang of at first, especially if this is your first time driving a manual. My old '05 M3 was the first manual car that I owned and had to drive on a daily basis, and I had lots of experience driving manuals before, but even I had a lot of trouble with the clutch at first, especially with the lurching and rolling, I even stalled a few times! It takes a lot of practice to drive any manual, but it takes even more to be flawless at driving this one. You can go to any local driving school and they should have classes on manual cars, you'll get the hang of it eventually

Do yourself a favor and get a manual or you will regret it later. My first car was E36 M3 manual and I had no trouble learning stick on it. It's a very easy car to drive.
